Editor's Note
It is the work of the sculptors Bulent Bayrak and Fulden Bak. Created as a joint project of the Aegean Army Command and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the monument stands 23 meters tall including its pedestal, set on a hill overlooking the Bay of Izmir above the Uckuyular Oyak housing estate.
