Editor's Note
Elaea was an ancient city of Aeolis that served as the port of Pergamum. According to the Barrington Atlas, it was located near the modern town of Zeytindağ in İzmir's Bergama district, where the ruins of the silted harbor's breakwater can still be seen on satellite imagery.
