Editor's Note
The building's foundations were laid as a hall for the Turkish Hearth (Turk Ocagi) association, but it could not be completed because the association was shut down. The building opened to service on 29 October 1938 under the name Kitapsaray. It was used as a military hospital during the Second World War, and after the war it began serving as a library.
