The Catal Mosque has no construction inscription. The building is thought to have been commissioned by Catal Musa in the 17th century. Information about the mosque's patron is quite limited. He is known to have been the son of Catal Mustafa and to have lived in the Alaybeyi neighborhood in the 17th century. The mosque was burned during the War of Independence and has reached the present day with some later additions. The building consists of two separate adjoining spaces. Of the square-plan spaces, the western one is covered by a dome and the eastern by a flat ceiling. The two spaces are connected by two arches in their shared wall.
