Dated AH 1214 and located in the centre of the town of Göynük in Avanos, the mosque took on a new appearance following the repairs it has undergone. All of the building's exterior façades are clad in marble, while inside the body walls are covered with tiles and the ceiling with hand-painted decoration on plaster. The two-line Ottoman-Turkish inscription on the west of the north wall of the portico, a rectangular structure running east to west added to the front of the roughly square-planned mosque, gives the date 1214, while the inscription on the east of the same wall gives 1275 as the date of repair.
