Editor's Note
"Köşek" means "a camel calf up to one year old" in Turkish. The name of the village of Köşektaş comes not from a tribe or a person, but from a folk legend tied to two rock formations to the north of the village. According to the tale, the area where the village now stands was once a green meadow full of springs where caravans would stop to rest. One day a camel and its calf belonging to a resting caravan ran off. When their owner could not catch them, he cursed: "May you turn to stone where you stand!" After these words, the camel became a great boulder and its calf a round stone.
