Foundation remains were uncovered in 2004 during road works carried out by the Nevşehir Municipality in the Emek neighbourhood of the city centre, and rescue excavations were conducted in 2005 under the direction of the Museum Directorate. As a result of these excavations, the building was identified as a Persian-period columned structure, since no mortar had been used in laying the foundation bases and the spacing between them was narrow. The excavations also yielded finds from the 6th century BC.
