Editor's Note
This area is located at a high point of the Virgin Mary Church south of Nevsehir Castle. It was built in 1892 by the Greeks living in the region. Tunnels and Watercourses: Many tunnels have been found in Nevsehir Castle and its hillside settlement. These tunnels were used both as watercourses and as secret underground passages. The watercourses were laid out as two main lines running from the castle's southern slope toward the north. During his efforts to transform his native village of Muskara into Nevsehir, Damat Ibrahim Pasha had water tunnels built to meet the city's water needs.
