Editor's Note
According to its inscription, the fountain was built around AH 1218 / AD 1804 by Veli Agha, son of Uzun Ali, who was the coffee-maker of the Grand Admiral Gazi Huseyin Pasha. There is also another inscription stating that it was repaired by the tomb-keeper Haci Mehmet Baba on AH 1313 / 1 October AD 1895. A further inscription, in modern Latin letters, reads 'The Monuments Society carried out repairs. 1962.' The construction inscription reads: 'This is the fountain, named a gift for God's sake, of Veli Agha, son of Uzun Ali, coffee-maker of His Excellency the current Grand Admiral Gazi Huseyin Pasha, master of good works and charity, desirous of paradise and high ranks. 1218.'
