According to the two-line Arabic inscription carved into the stone above its crown gate on the north side, the Sheikh Abdulmelik Mosque was built in AH 725 / AD 1325 (Kulaguz, 1997, 46; Gunes, 2003, 67-68). It is known that during this period the Sutayids, sent as governors by Abu Said Bahadur Khan, held sway in Mus and Bulanik. The mosque's construction therefore coincides with the years 1318-1332, when Abu Said Bahadur Khan headed the Ilkhanids and Emir Sutay ruled the region (Eser, 2014, 203).
