It stands about 4 km southwest of the town of Molla Kent, on a high, rocky hill 1,634 metres in elevation with a rocky northern face (Drawing 1), at coordinates 38.93.54 north, 42.02.51 east. The Marnuk Stream, coming from the southeast of the castle, skirts the southern and western sides of the castle and reaches Develan Plain to its north. Marnuk Castle commands the farmland at the Marnuk site to its south and the Zogar site (Develan Plain) to its north. It is 2,250 m from Akkent Castle to the southeast and 2,350 m from the Urartian dam known as the Gavur Bendi.
