Editor's Note
Arakelots Monastery (Monastery of the Holy Apostles) was an Armenian monastery 11 km south-east of Muş in the historic province of Taron. By tradition founded by Gregory the Illuminator to house apostolic relics, it was most likely built in the 11th century and became a major center of learning in the 12th-13th centuries. It remained one of the prominent monasteries until the Armenian genocide of 1915, was reportedly blown up in the 1960s, and its ruins are still visible today.
