It is an octagonal structure built upon a single block of rock. The two-story tomb, made of cut stone, is covered by a pyramidal roof both inside and out. Although popularly believed to belong to the Aq Qoyunlu ruler Uzun Hasan, the information in the tomb's inscription shows that it was in fact built in 1572 for Sah Bey, son of Behlulbey, and his two sons. The man, who was one of the lords of Cemisgezek during the reign of the Ottoman ruler Selim I the Grim, came to be known popularly as Uzun Hasan ("Tall Hasan") because the bones of his body were long.
