Editor's Note
It lies near Karakuyu village in the Pınarbaşı district of Kayseri. The dam was first noticed in 1931 during a surface survey carried out by H. Z. Koşay and H. H. von der Osten, and the first publication about it was made by von der Osten in 1933. More recent excavation and research was carried out between 1987 and 1989 by K. Emre, T. Sipahi and T. Yıldırım of Ankara University. The reservoir is enclosed on three sides by a U-shaped earthen embankment totalling 440 metres in length, with its open end facing south.
