Editor's Note
Kesikköprü was built in 1248, during the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Kayhusraw II, by Atabeg İzzü'd-din Muhammed, to connect Kırşehir with Konya along the historic Silk Road. The bridge may be 100 metres long; it is 6 metres wide, with 13 arches and pointed arches. The bridge came to be called "Kesik Köprü" (Broken Bridge) because brigands cut off the caravan routes there in the 17th and 18th centuries. Over its history it underwent repairs in 1616, 1849, 1925 and 2004.
