Editor's Note
The oval rocky hill known as Yumruktepe or Yumrutepe lies on the southeastern edge of Beyköy village, in the İhsaniye district of Afyonkarahisar. The hill, about 100 metres wide and 10 metres high, contains numerous rock-cut tombs from the Phrygian and Roman periods. These were identified in 1971 by the Dutch archaeologist Emilie Haspels, and from 1979 to 1982 they were extensively surveyed and documented by a French expedition led by Hatice Gonnet.
