On our way toward İzmir, we stopped at the Republic Martyrs' Cemetery at the exit of Afyonkarahisar, where we too remembered our martyrs with gratitude. The Republic Martyrs' Cemetery: located 9 km from Afyonkarahisar, on the İzmir–Antalya highway adjoining the Özdilek Facilities. It was built by the Afyonkarahisar Governorate on the 75th anniversary of our Republic, in memory of the soldiers and police officers who fell during the Republican era, mostly in the struggle against the terrorist organisation (PKK).
