Editor's Note
The cemetery in the garden of the tomb of the same name is the oldest cemetery in the Akhisar district. Remains from the Roman and Hellenistic periods are especially abundant on the site, with a smaller number dating to the Byzantine period. Fluted column fragments, votive inscriptions and carved architectural elements strengthen the likelihood that this was a sacred place in antiquity as well. It is clear that some ancient architectural pieces were reused as gravestones during the Ottoman period.
