Editor's Note
Abdülvehhab Gazi is a legendary figure. His name appears among the heroes in the epics recounting the deeds of the conquerors of Anatolia, such as the Danişmendname, the Saltukname, the Müseyyebname and the Battalname. He has tombs or memorial shrines in nearly 15 cities across Turkey, the best known being in Sivas, İznik, Malatya and Akşehir. This tomb, near Lake Eber in the Bolvadin district, is one of them. He is held to have taken part in the siege of Afyonkarahisar, where he was wounded alongside Seyyid Battal Gazi and Ahmed Turanî (Tarran-Dürranî?) Gazi, and to have been buried here in AD 740.
