Editor's Note
Dating from 1517, this fountain is domed and built in the baldachin style. Water reached fountains of this kind from four sources, supplying 266,819 cubic metres of water. The waterways within the district were laid with earthenware pipes, running alongside the road in tunnels large enough for a person to pass through. Built of cut tuff stone some 3 to 4 metres below ground level, the fountain in its flowing years drew water from a source 2,112 metres away: 1,100 metres of the route was laid with clay pipe and 1,012 metres was a covered water channel running 5 to 6 metres beneath the surface. It is one of the twelve known sunken fountains of Kula. It has since been restored and renovated.
