Although the minaret survives from the Seljuk period, no remains of the mosque building from that era have come down to us. The present mosque was built in the Ottoman period. However, it is not known by whom or when the minaret and the mosque were built. The minaret consists of a cylindrical brick shaft rising from a base made of cut-stone blocks. The upper section has collapsed. A band of interlocking geometric ornament wraps around the upper part of the shaft, and rows of blue glazed tiles known as bacini are set above and below this band.
