Story

Sarpıncık Lighthouse stands on the Karaburun coast where its light can serve vessels approaching this exposed edge of the İzmir peninsula. According to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety, the lighthouse entered service on 10 January 1938. Its tower is 12 metres high, while the light itself sits 97 metres above sea level; the station now uses solar power. Those measurements explain why the structure can look modest at close range yet command such a long view over the Aegean from the headland.
