Editor's Note
St. Thomas Monastery is a ruined Armenian monastery overlooking Lake Van, near the village of Altınsaç (Kanzak) on the lake's southern shore. It was probably built in the 11th to 13th centuries and is mentioned in 15th-century manuscripts; parts of the interior were restored in 1581 and the exterior repaired in 1801. It was already deserted before the First World War.
