This is one of the four caves in Turkey accepted as belonging to the Companions of the Cave (Ashab-i Kehf; see also Mersin-Tarsus, Kahramanmaras-Afsin, Diyarbakir-Lice, and Izmir-Selcuk). The Ashab-i Kehf Cave lies in the Inceburun Mountains north of Duru (Derkam) Village, 15 km from the district center. A little below the cave there are also the ruins of a church built in the name of the Companions of the Cave, known as 'Der-i Rakim.' [1] The site in Lice long known as the Ashab-i Kehf Cave indeed matches exactly the description of the cave mentioned in the Holy Quran, in verses 9-26 of the Surah al-Kahf.
