Editor's Note
As understood from the broken marble inscription inside the Şemun el-Gazi Tomb, it was built in AH 680 / AD 1281 by Emir Çoban on the orders of the Seljuk Sultan Giyaseddünya ve'd-din Keyhüsrev, son of Kılıç Arslan. The phrase "semanin sittemaye" in the inscription denotes the year 680, showing that the building was completed during the reign of Giyaseddin III. The tomb stands in Şeyh Şaban Village, which belongs to İncesu, at a spot known locally as "Evliya Dağı" (Saint's Mountain) or "Evliya Tepesi" (Saint's Hill).
