Editor's Note
The Omuzu Güçlü (Gürzlü) Dervish Lodge and Tomb is situated near Kayseri's İncesu district, southeast of Subaşı village, between Şeyh Şaban village and Subaşı, at the foot of Boz Dağ (Kozan Dağı). Its name first appears in historical documents in a tax register (tahrir) of 1484 from the reign of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, where the name Omuzu Güçlü is mentioned in the course of defining the Ottoman-Karaman-Dulkadirid border. While the 1500 and 1520 registers refer to a community living at the Omuzu Güçlü farmstead, the 1520 record notes a tax-exempt household at the lodge.
