Editor's Note
The Şeyh Turesan Dervish Lodge was built in the second quarter of the 13th century at the Tekke Dağı site, between Kayseri's İncesu district and Başköy, which belongs to Ürgüp. The building was commissioned by Mahperi Hatun, wife of Alaeddin Keykubad I, during the reign of the Seljuk Sultan Giyaseddin Keyhüsrev II. Built entirely of well-dressed cut stone, the lodge has a rectangular plan running north-south, measuring 21.18 x 14.12 meters. The segmental-arched entrance door, set slightly south of the east facade, is emphasized by a marble inscription and a rectangular window above it.
