Editor's Note
The Kırkmerdiven Underground City and Rock Tombs lie southeast of Doğanlı Village and consist of a church, caves, and tombs carved into the rock. Taking its name from the stairs cut into the rock at the entrance to the underground city, this complex has survived to the present day in a largely ruined state. During cleaning work carried out by the Kayseri Museum Directorate, the descending steps and the cover stone at the entrance were uncovered.
