Editor's Note
Although the mosque has no building inscription, an inscription preserved in the prayer hall bears the date AH 1080 / AD 1669–1670. Given its content, this inscription—whose origin is unknown—may belong to this mosque. Despite undergoing repairs at various dates, the building has survived to the present day while largely retaining its architectural and plan features, and it remains open for worship. The Nevşehir Çardak Village Mosque was built upon the remains of an old Byzantine church.
