Registered as cultural assets, the Seferihisar plague cemeteries are located in the Kavaklıdere and Alankırı areas. One of these cemeteries is 20,000 square metres and the other 16,600. Between 1826 and 1833, a vast and deadly plague epidemic struck Seferihisar and its surroundings, and thousands of people lost their lives. Those who died in the epidemic lie buried in these cemeteries. In that outbreak, some villages such as Eseler, Köseler, Telmese and Çukurköy were wiped out entirely, while the district centre also suffered very heavy losses.
