Editor's Note
The Church of Agios Georgios stands at the highest point of Gülbahçe (historically known as Rodones), a village in the Urla district of İzmir. Dating to the 19th century, this church was an important place of worship for the Greek community who lived in the village until 1922. In those days, villagers working in the fields frequently came across stones and remains from antiquity. Now used as the Gülbahçe Mosque, the building is referred to in some sources as the Church of Agios Georgios, though this attribution is not certain. A minaret was later added at the point believed to have been the church's main entrance.
