Editor's Note
In the market centre of Mordoğan, this two-storey, four-faced Ottoman-era fountain stands apart from others in the region thanks to its Baroque-style ornamentation and distinctive form. According to its main inscription, it was built in 1913 by Hocazade Hafız Süleyman Efendi, one of the area's leading figures. Shaped as a rectangular prism with two narrow and two wide faces, the fountain has lost the marble slabs from its rear face, and the exposed rubble-stone core of the main body now makes for an unattractive sight.
