Keşiş (Keyiş) Pool is a natural body of water with a history going back about four hundred years, fed by underground springs formed by the melting of the snow and glaciers on Mount Erciyes. The pool is constantly renewed by cold spring water that rises through the rocks at a steady flow, so it undergoes a natural process of self-cleansing. Its water is of drinkable quality and has been used throughout history both in daily life and for agricultural irrigation.
