It was founded as a joint-stock company in 1953 through the initiatives of the prime minister of the day, Adnan Menderes, with credit support from Sumerbank. It completed its yarn plant in 1957, its raw-cloth plant in 1958, and its finished-cloth plant in 1960. The factory's groundbreaking ceremony was held on 7 October 1955 by President Celal Bayar and Prime Minister Adnan Menderes. The complex was formed by bringing together buildings of different functions, including production, administration, social, residential, and religious structures. Production continued at the site until 2002, and it remained out of use until 2016.
