The Tire Gülcüoğlu Mansions were built in 1927 by a Bulgarian contractor for members of the Gülcüoğlu family - Hacı Mehmet Gülcüoğlu, Halim Gülcüoğlu, and Tevfik Gülcüoğlu - in place of the houses that were completely destroyed in the great fire of 1914. Architecturally, they were built in the neoclassical and baroque style frequently used in late-period Ottoman buildings. Consisting of three mansions side by side, they were used as a residence until the 1990s by Gülcüoğlu Abdülhalim Efendi, who served two terms as mayor, and his family.
