Editor's Note
The mound at the Künk locality, south of the Kutlu township in the central district of Aksaray, is oval in plan, about 400 meters across in both the east-west and north-south directions, and varies between 25 and 35 meters in height, forming a marked topographic rise above its surroundings. The ceramic finds recovered in surface surveys show that the settlement had a multi-layered occupation extending from the Early Bronze Age through the Assyrian Trade Colonies period, the Iron Age, and the Hellenistic, Roman, and Seljuk periods.
