It is on Çarşı Street in the Kuşçu neighborhood. Standing within the marketplace, the small mosque is surrounded on three sides by shops. It lies near Akşehir Castle, and because it sits below the castle it was given the name Taht-el Kal'a, meaning 'below the castle.' Over time this name was forgotten and became 'Tahtakale,' the name by which it is known today. The Çarşı-Demirkapı Mescidi mentioned in the foundation records is this mosque. It was built in the 15th century. A repair inscription dated AH 1241 / AD 1825 is set above the entrance door.
