Çakırağa Mansion is a fine example of Ottoman domestic architecture in the town of Birgi, in the Ödemiş district of İzmir Province. The three-storey wooden mansion, set in a large garden, was commissioned in 1761 by the wealthy merchant Çakıroğlu Mehmet Bey. The ground floor holds the stables, kitchen and stone hall, while the first floor served as winter quarters and the second as summer quarters. Renowned for its wall and ceiling decorations, painted ornament and wood carving, including views of Istanbul and İzmir, it has been restored and turned into a museum.
