Editor's Note
It lies within the registered plot of block 256, parcels 15 and 16, at the junction of 2046th Street and 2051st Street in the İnönü neighbourhood, on a lot now used as a car park. The former name of the street where the structure stands was Mehmet Ağa Street. Although recorded as a fountain in other sources, its architecture, height and form of construction make it look more like a water cistern. Moreover, there is no fountain on any of its three faces. With its rubble-stone and brick masonry and its dome, the neglected and ruined water cistern is hard for passers-by to notice.
