Editor's Note
It was rebuilt on the same site in 1830. The earlier church, an 18th-century building, had fallen into ruin when the Greeks left Çeşme during the Morea uprisings. The frescoes inside the church were uncovered in recent years through a poor restoration. Today the church hosts painting exhibitions and various artistic events organised by the municipality.
