The history of the Sahib Ata Foundation Bath reaches far back in time. Just as baths were built over hot springs in Roman and later Byzantine times, in the Seljuk period too it became a valued healing source for the capital, Konya. The Seljuk Sultan Alâeddin Keykubat built the first Turkish bath with a pool at Ilgın in 1236, in place of the ruined Byzantine baths.
