Editor's Note
As is clear from the inscription above its door, the Doğanhisar Grand Mosque was built in AD 1548. A wooden staircase to the left of the entrance leads up to the gallery (mahfil) level. A second door is visible in the right-hand outer wall. Its wooden mihrab and minbar are also striking. A minaret of mixed stone-and-brick masonry stands at the corner of the west wall. The outer walls - built with regular cut stone in the lower parts and, in the upper parts, one course of stone alternating with three or four courses of brick on the entrance and qibla facades, while the other two facades are of rubble masonry - are 103-105 cm thick.
