Editor's Note
It was built about 500 years ago in honor of Dediği Mahmut Sultan - of the Turgutoğulları and of the Seljuk family - by Sanavber Hatun, a freed concubine of Kılıçarslan II, who had the architect Eminüttin construct it in the Beykonak neighborhood, 15 km from Ilgın. Over time, with the cemetery that formed around it, the masjid gradually turned into a tomb, dervish lodge (zaviye) and tekke - as is evident from the fact that the old name of the town of Beykonak was Tekke. The Dediği Sultan Tomb, located 16 km from the district center, lies in the Beykonak neighborhood.
