On the road to liberation, the raid carried out by national forces on the Elvanlar train station was a crucial milestone that fueled the will to resist. On learning that the Greeks intended to ship trainloads of ammunition and munitions to the Afyon region, the national forces raided the Elvanlar train station and destroyed the munitions. In this raid, national-forces commanders Ali Bey, Emir Eri Abdullah Çavuş and Alpaslan Çavuş were martyred on 6 June 1921.
