The Temple of Apollo Lairbenos, set atop a small hill called Asartepe, was built on a conical hill commanding the Menderes Valley. At first glance this temple gives the impression of being one of the many local cult centers found throughout western Anatolia, but for some time it has drawn the particular attention of researchers studying religious history.
