The person interred in the Sheikh Huseyin Bavi Kal Tomb is Seyyid Sheikh Huseyin Hashimi el-Huseyni Bavi Kal. His father was Seyyid Abdullah el-Akbar. He was born in the city of Karbala, Iraq, in 637 AH / 1240 CE. He received an advanced Islamic education at the religious madrasas of Iraq, then traveled to the city of Mashhad in Iran, where he stayed at the lodge of Imam Ali al-Rida. He came to Diyarbakir in 669 AH / 1271 CE. Seyyid Sheikh Huseyin Hashimi el-Huseyni Bavi Kal received the rank of caliph in the Qadiri and Rifa'i orders and trained many students of religious knowledge in the madrasas.
