Editor's Note
The Memikan Bridge spans the Garzan River on an east-west axis, within the boundaries of the Gedikli hamlet of Yazihan village in the Besiri district of Batman province. The bridge was built to connect the Garzan Plain with the mountainous region to its west, and it had four spans, probably with round arches. Today the remains of five piers survive; some of the passageways have collapsed and become detached. It was built using cut stone, rubble stone, and gypsum mortar, and the bridge was recently restored.
