Editor's Note
The Zevruney Valley Cisterns lie within the boundaries of the Hasankeyf district of Batman province. During work in the valley, cisterns connected to rock-cut dwellings were identified. The cisterns are circular in plan, keeping the same form from top to bottom, and contain step-like holes; these holes are thought to have been made for cleaning. Carved into the bedrock, the cisterns are no longer in use today and have lost their function.
