Editor's Note
The Imam Abdullah Lodge stands on a small hill north of the Tigris River in Batman, comprising the tomb of Imam Abdullah, believed to be a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, together with the surrounding buildings. The original lodge was built in the 12th century during the Artuqid period, but after it fell into ruin it was rebuilt under the Ayyubid sultan Takiyeddin Abdullah (1249-1294). An inscription at the tomb's entrance shows that the building was repaired by the Aq Qoyunlu in 878 (1478). The lodge is held in great reverence by the local people.
