The Central Mosque, on Cami Caddesi in the Beşiri district of Batman province, was built in 1926, and the inscription on its minaret bears the date 1968. Rectangular in plan and crowned by a single dome, the mosque is built of regular cut stone with an exterior plastered in concrete mortar. The prayer hall is decorated with modern tiles and hand-drawn ornament, and the dome rests on an octagonal drum supported by four columns. The minaret at the northwest corner, with a square base, a cylindrical shaft and a single balcony, has star-shaped lighting openings, and the mosque remains in use today.
